Monday, October 5, 2015
The 2015 Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile being run on the 31 October at Turffontein Racecourse will pair 16 celebrities with 16 racehorses for this Grade 2 race, with 16 charities receiving a share of the notable R1 million donated by Peermont and Emperors Palace.
The barrier draw, being held on the 21 October at Emperors Palace, will pair each of the 16 thoroughbreds with a charity and celebrity.
Here we take a look at some of the celebrities we know well from our TV screens, more notably from many of our favourite soapies and magazine programmes, who will be taking horseracing to a new level on 31 October:
A regular celebrity at the annual Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile, Amanda du-Pont is an actress television anchor/host, voice over artist, model, brand ambassador and business woman and resides between Johannesburg, Cape Town, and New York City. Swazi born du-Pont was recently in Zanzibar for a sizzling photoshoot after being chosen as the cover of Previdar Magazine, an honour previously enjoyed by Terry Pheto.
Joining the celebrities again this year is Hayley Owen who racegoers may recognize as the feisty character Angie from The Wild. Owen has also starred in Isidingo. She is also a presenter on e.TV, has a sports lifestyle show on Ballz Visual Radio and produces Educational Roadshows through her company, Actorvate. Owen‘s recent beautiful Dullstroom wedding, where she married athlete and businessman Shaun Watters, was featured on Top Billing.
Since winning the Top Billing dream presenter search, Jonathan Boynton-Lee has taken the South African entertainment scene by storm. This TV presenter is also an award winning and multi-talented filmmaker, as brilliant behind the camera as he is in front of it. Jonathan is a family man and passionate about charity work. Boynton-Lee won both the title for Sexiest Man and also came out tops in the Favourite TV Presenter category at the 2015 YOU Spectacular Awards, showing once again that he really is a firm favourite with South African audiences.
The beautiful other half of Boyton-Lee is girlfriend Jay Anstey who is another Charity Mile celebrity this year. She is a familiar face to South African television viewers, and has starred in a string of local productions including Isidingo, Snitch Scandal. Anstey has also starred in a host of international series and feature films, including portraying the daughter of Tim Robbins’ character in the 2006 film Catch a Fire. Her modelling and acting accomplishments are many.
