With education an important focus of Madiba's legacy, emperors Palace promoted reading and literature for Mandela Day 2017.
On Wednesday morning, July 26 the revamped library at Ntsikana Primary School in Daveyton was officially unveiled after being refurbished for Mandela Day this year by the Peermont Community Benefit Trust (PCBT), a Peermont Hotels, Casinos and Resorts corporate social investment initiative, supported by Emperors Palace. In attendance for the unveiling were Peermont CEO, Nigel Atherton of Edenvale, the school's principal, Boniswa Nhlangothi of Crystal Park, Trust Chairperson, Tshidi Madima of Midrand and the new Emperors Palace General Manager, Clive Tavener of Mondior. Apart from giving the library a new look the Trust also assisted in re-stocking and cataloguing the reading centre and, to celebrate the unveiling on Wednesday, all the learners and staff at the school were given lunch packs sponsored by Eurest and Compass.
In an ongoing effort to uplift and enhance the learning experience for primary school going learners in Ekurhuleni the Peermont Community Benefit Trust (PCBT), a corporate social investment initiative supported by Emperors Palace, refurbished the library at Ntsikana Primary School in Daveyton for Mandela Day this year. The official unveiling of the new-look library, which was also restocked by the Trust, took place on Wednesday, July 26 and was attended by, in the front, guest speaker, John Maseko, Circuit Manager DBE Gauteng East District, Alex Kunene, at the back, Peermont CEO, Nigel Atherton, Acting District Director of the DBE Gauteng East District, Somikazi Chabalala, principal, Boniswa Nhlangothi, Trust Chairperson, Tshidi Madima, new Emperors Palace General Manager, Clive Tavener and Cluster Leader DBE Gauteng East District, Simon Boloshe.
As part of its Nelson Mandela Day project this year, the Peermont Community Benefit Trust (PCBT), a CSI initiative supported by Emperors Palace, revamped the library at Ntsikana Primary School, considered one of the top performing primary schools in Daveyton. After giving the library a new-look, restocking and cataloguing the books and providing other necessary equipment the Trust unveiled the reading centre on Wednesday morning, July 26, once the learners had returned from their school holidays. To celebrate the occasion all the staff and learners of the school were given food packs for lunch which were happily distributed by Trust and Emperors Palace staff members like Aubrey Mathonse of Tembisa who is pictured here with some excited youngsters.

As the school was closed on July 18, for the holidays, the revamped library was officially opened on Wednesday morning, July 26. Much to the delight of the school’s learners they were treated to lunch, thanks to Eurest and Compass, to celebrate the occasion. Among those giving 67 minutes to help on the day was Trust intern, Lebo Madubanya of Ivory Park who is pictured here with happy Grade 3 learners after giving them their lunch packs.

Despite rolling up their sleeves and doing their 67 minutes of good, by getting the refurbished library at Ntsikana Primary School in Daveyton in tip-top shape on Mandela Day, July 18, some Emperors Palace also assisted when the new-look library was officially unveiled on Wednesday morning July 26. Among those Palace of Dreams employees who helped hand out lunch packs to learners at the school to celebrate the unveiling were Aubrey Mathonse of Tembisa and Makomane Ntabo of Ormonde. The library was revamped and restocked by the Peermont Community Benefit Trust, a CSI initiative supported by Emperors Palace, as part of the Trust’s annual Mandela Day activities.
