PRESS RELEASE
Golden Gloves Press Conference
Monday, June 11, 2018
On Monday 11 June 11 Golden Gloves announced an exciting line-up of three boxing events over the next few months at Emperors Palace with the big news that Thomas “Tommy Gun” Oosthuizen will be making a return to the ring at the Palace of Dreams. As usual boxing promoter Rodney Berman has put together three outstanding bills with the action kicking off on Saturday, 23 June with the “Bombs Away” bill which will feature the likes of Thulani Mbenge and Rowan Campbell. This will be followed on 10 August with the “Reach for the Star” tournament and “Call to Glory” fight night on 1 September . It is on the latter bill that Oosthuizen (left), pictured here at Monday’s press briefing with his likely opponent on that night, Thabiso Mchunu (right), IBO Cruiserweight world champion, Kevin Lerena and Peermont Entertainment Manager, Celeste-Anne Nicholas, will meet. Mchunu will first have to beat the Ukraine’s Ricards Bolotniks on the “Bombs Away” tournament before facing Oosthuizen in September for the ABU Cruiserweight title. Oosthuizen commented at the press conference he had his sights set on Lerena’s world title. (Photograph by Yolanda van der Stoep)
