Destiny Delivers Knockouts at Emperors Palace

The Destiny’s Decree boxing tournament at Emperors Palace on Saturday, 4 October, delivered an unforgettable night of action, drama, and knockouts as South Africa’s rising and established stars put on a thrilling display for fight fans.

In the headline bout, Bryan “BBK” Thysse captured the vacant South African Light-Heavyweight title with a dominant performance over Michael Head. The fight was stopped just 26 seconds into the ninth round after Thysse unleashed a powerful combination that forced the referee to step in. Thysse made history by becoming the third member of his family to hold a national title — following in the footsteps of his brother Brandon (the current SA Junior-Middleweight Champion) and his late father Andre (a former Super-Middleweight titleholder).

The undercard provided equally impressive performances with Khaya Mlata showing incredible resilience, recovering from a first-round knockdown to defeat Ardy Katompa by split decision and claim the vacant WBC Youth Super Bantamweight title.

Charlton “Baby Pain” Malajika continued his rise in the bantamweight division with a commanding fourth-round stoppage victory over the experienced Froilan Saludar. In the heavyweight ranks, Jose Kadima made quick work of Limbani Lano, scoring a first-round knockout, while Juan Alberts also impressed with a first-round technical knockout over Kareb Shitana. Jared Hensberg capped off the undercard with a hard-fought split decision win against Lawrence Chiyangwa in their four-round super-middleweight clash.

The night was a showcase of South African boxing at its finest, showing why Emperors Palace is known as the home of boxing. The Palace of Dreams hosted an explosive evening showcasing determined comebacks and moments of high emotion. With Destiny’s Decree, Emperors Palace and Golden Gloves have solidified their commitment to promote where champions are made and destinies are defined.

Next tournament will be announced by Golden Gloves.
