The Peermont Children’s Trust (PCT), one of the CSI initiatives supported by Emperors Palace, has in partnership with Afrika Tikkun Bambanani started a transformative initiative to professionally qualify 25 ECD practitioners from Ekurhuleni.

The qualification the practioners will be able to obtain is an NQF Level 5 SANTS Higher Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education (HCert ECCE), completed over a period of one year. The qualification is accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE), registered with the South African qualification Authority (SAQA), and recognised by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). This is one part of the PCT’s nearly R5-million commitment, over three years, to make a meaningful difference in Early Childhood Development (ECD) in Ekurhuleni.

Apart from training and qualifying the 25 ECD practitioners from Thokoza, Katlehong and Vosloorus the initiative, which was launched at Alberton’s Teacher Centre recently is also aimed at improving practitioner knowledge, confidence and teaching effectiveness.

Further advantages will be strengthening literacy, numeracy and school readiness outcomes among children, improve compliance and quality standards within ECD centres, contribute to the professionalisation of the ECD sector in Ekurhuleni and build a sustainable pipeline of qualified ECD professionals.

“While the PCT gives the financial support for these 25 ECD practitioners to do this NQF Level 5 SANTS Higher Certificate they will receive further support from Afrika Tikkun Bambanani to help them succeed,” says Trust Manager, Thomas Masango.

“The practitioners will also be assisted with examination preparation, completion support interventions and ongoing motivation and wellbeing support specifically designed to improve completion rates and ensure practitioners successfully graduate,” added Masango.

As part of the nearly R5-million the PCT committed to ECD it has also, in cooperation with Afrika Tikkun Bambanani, already upgraded and supported five ECD centres in Thembisa which included the development of 20 practitioners from these centres.

Great place for family, lots of restaurants to choose from ,vegetarian and Halal options available at some restaurants, 4dx cinema, conference space and hotels, ample parking, gaming area and kids safe area incase you need some alone time, you do pay I think per hour per child but its very safe ,comfortable and clean ,I don't remember the age allowed.
