A sensory experience extraordinaire at the Family, Food and Fragrance Festival
Monday, March 7, 2016
Designed to delight the senses, the first annual Family, Food and Fragrance Festival is set to take place in the gardens at the D’oreale Grande hotel at Emperors Palace on the Mother’s Day weekend from 7 to 8 May 2016. Presented in association with AJK51 (PTY) LTD, the festival is a unique fusion of flavours and fragrance that will appeal to connoisseurs and fanatics alike. Visitors will be able to enjoy delectable tasters of dishes from top foodies, local wineries and breweries, samples of enchanting perfumes, live entertainment and delightful surprises galore.
Visitors will be able to indulge their taste buds with signature dishes and appetizers from some of the most popular chefs and food chains. Foodie lovers and wannabe chefs will be thrilled to know that food blogger, author and TV host, Sarah Graham, will entertain visitors with a one hour interactive cooking class in the Chef’s Theatre on 7 May at 15h30 and on 8 May at 11h30 and 15h00. Each cooking class will be followed by a 30 minute book signing and photograph session. Tickets for the cooking classes are R350 per person and includes ingredients and a cooking station. Space is limited and can be booked by contacting Michelle at AJK51 on 078 294 9282 or by emailing email@example.com.
Some of the exclusive concepts of the festival; include aroma theatres, scent tunnels and scent hunts. In the aroma theatres, visitors will be able to experiment and blend their own fragrant diffusers and perfumes. The scent tunnels promise to be an out of this world sensory adventure with whiffs and sounds of elements such as Mother Nature, the earth, fragrant grass, birds, the beach, piña coladas and crashing waves.
There will also be beauty treatments, trinkets and treats in abundance for mothers by best-of-breed brands, cosmetic houses and perfumeries. In addition, there will be ongoing amusement for kids, fun play areas and scent hunts that will reward them for tracking down and identifying favourite smells. “We are particularly excited about the fact that we can offer this extraordinary experience for an entrance fee of only R80 for adults, R20 for children and free of charge to kids under the age of three,” enthuses Andi Shaughnessy, Entertainment Manager at Emperors Palace. We are pulling out all the stops to combine quality and affordability to ensure that this is placed on the calendar of must-attend family events every year. Our Winners Circle members also qualify for great discounts!”
The event will be hosted from 10h30 – 17h30 on Saturday, 7 May and from 10h30 - 17h00 on Sunday, 8 May. For more information call 011 928 1000, visit www.emperorspalace.com.
