Adnan Sami brings the magic of Bollywood to South Africa

Tuesday, March 14, 2017

Presented by Blu Blood, Glow TV, and Showtime Promotions in association with Hello Group, the musical maestro will return to South African shores after wowing fans four years ago, with an enchanting east-meets-west performance.  Sami will perform a collection of his Bollywood blockbusters including Kabhi To Nazar Milao, Bhardo Jholi Meri and Lift Karaa De.  “We are thrilled to host such an iconic star and to be able to share his incredible talent with his fans,” says Andi Shaughnessy, Emperors Palace Entertainment Manager.  “Adnan Sami is renowned for his unique sound and breath-taking performances, and we have no doubt that it’s going to be a spectacular event.”

The multi-talented musician is considered one of the fastest keyboard players in the world, and can play over 35 musical instruments including the guitar, accordion, saxophone, sitar and violin. Sami is also thought to be the first musician in history to use the santoor, a traditional Indian instrument, within western music genres.

The road to fame

Sami has won many international awards in his 32-year career, including the Nigar Award, Bolan Academy Award and Graduate Award.  He was also the youngest recipient of the Naushad Music Award for Excellence in Music. Sami also received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the Prime Minister of Pakistan in 2001.  His first single was released in 1986 and topped the charts in its first week.  He was sixteen at the time and had written and recorded a song for the United Nations and UNICEF called Run For His Life.  This was followed by countless other hit singles and albums over the years.

Sami was later invited to write music for an upcoming film, opening the door for him to compose and sing for Hindi films.  His work has associated him with the greatest names from the Indian Film and Music industry.  As a classical concert pianist, Adnan has performed before royalty such as the King of Sweden and King of Jordan and many important heads of states.

Tickets are available from R280 per person, with fantastic discounts for Winners Circle members and unbeatable dinner and show packages.  The doors will open at 17h30 with the concert starting at 18h00.  For more information and bookings contact the Emperors Palace Box Office on 011 928 1297/1213 or visit www.emperorspalace.com.  Emperors Palace is a Peermont resort.  Connect with us on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter @emperorspalace.  Alternatively follow @AdnanSamiLive and use the hashtags #TheBluBloodWay #ShowtimePromotions #AdnanLiveSA .
