Tuesday, October 22, 2019
This November, Emperors Palace in association with the Embassy of Colombia in South Africa will open its doors to the Colombian Cultural Food Festival, where Colombia’s unique blend of Indigenous Colombian, African, European and Arabian cuisine will be celebrated. From 08 to 10 November guests can indulge in exquisite South American fare at Aurelia’s Restaurant, located at the five-star Peermont D’oreale Grande hotel.
“We’re thrilled to host the Colombian food festival and look forward to welcoming culinary tourists to the Palace of Dreams. Guests can expect to have their taste buds tantalised by tropical flavours and earthy spices as they tuck into mouth-watering dishes, including roasted duck, pickled brisket and tasty oxtail, to name a few,” comments Tiaan Schultz, Food and Beverage Manager at Peermont.
Good food transcends borders and that’s why Emperors Palace is especially proud to welcome award-winning Colombian Chef Carlos Andrés Ibañez to South African shores. Chef Carlos brings with him a wealth of knowledge and passion for his craft, that will allow guests to experience his country’s rich culinary heritage. Throughout the festival guests can enjoy a generous selection of mouth-watering sweet and savoury dishes, that guarantee to satisfy any palate.
"We are delighted to bring the best of the Colombian gastronomy to one of the best hotels, not only in South Africa but in the Southern Africa region. Having said that, the Embassy of Colombia is more than pleased to share our cultural richness and exquisite food with all the visitors to Emperors Palace from the 8th to the 10th of November 2019," expressed Mr. Carlos Andres Barahona Niño, Ambassador of Colombia in South Africa.
The Colombian Cultural Food Festival will start with a traditional buffet dinner and salsa dance evening on Thursday, 08 November, for R365 per person. This will be followed by a delightful mid-afternoon Colombian high tea on Saturday, 09 November for R225 per person.
